About Tequeria

A Community Member Who Gets It

Detroit has always been home in the deepest sense — it's where family roots run deep and where Tequeria Barrett's passion for civil rights and advocacy was first grounded at Eastern Michigan University. After six years in Atlanta — where she served as Vice President-Elect of the NAACP Georgia Conference and as a Political Organizer within the New Georgia Project and The Outreach Team — she returns to continue her advocacy journey in the city that first taught her how to organize at the local level.

Now working as a Voting Rights Organizer with the Michigan League of Conservation Voters' Democracy For All, Tequeria is on the ground every day fighting to ensure Detroit voters are heard at every level of democracy.
